They use graphics on packaging similar to eco-certificates or highlight a selected feature of part of their product as the main attribute of the entire product—for example, only the outer layer of the product is cotton while the inside contains chemical ingredients such as superabsorbents, plastic, or cellulose. However, through carefully chosen graphics (size and placement of text), the manufacturer creates the impression that the entire product is made of cotton. This is a deliberate attempt to mislead customers to increase sales.
